Metrology Helpline

GTMA is delighted to announce the launch of a new Metrology Helpline service, which will have direct access to National Physical Laboratory (NPL).

GTMA's aspiration is to make the metrology expertise in the UK more accessible to all by the use of the now available free and impartial helpline service. Those companies requiring assistance with dimensional metrology matters can now make contact by telephone or by email to the GTMA Metrology Helpline.

It is certain that companies that apply better metrology solutions will gain competitive advantages in their market.

With smaller tolerances on component parts, which themselves are becoming more complex, the GTMA Metrology Helpline can provide vital guidance, assistance and access to problem solving expertise that allows the UK to lead the world in innovative precision engineering

Confidence in the Service

Anyone using the service can be confident in the service as both GTMA and NPL have the right credentials. GTMA will draw upon its growing number of world class metrology companies it has in membership to provide the most comprehensive advice possible. These range from those that offer calibration services, to those that supply coordinate measurement equipment, and optical systems. In 2010 GTMA members demonstrated their latest technical developments at the Make Measurement Matter road show at The Digital Lab at Warwick University, which also provided an opportunity for companies to discuss their measurement challenges.

The next Make Measurement Matter Roadshow will be held on 19th October 2011 at Donnington Park.

The National Physical Laboratory holds a leading position in the world as the UK’s National Measurement Institute. Dimensional Metrology is an area where NPL leads the world. Not only is the research and expertise base world leading, but with a range of available systems NPL are able to provide dimensional metrology capability down to sub-micrometre resolution.
